Oh my, I struggled with the hair on Anna’s portrait . This was my second inked version of the portrait- the first one I experimented with a brush pen on thee hair using heavier inked lines but hated the result so much I drew the whole portrait all over again. But I still didn’t get the hair right. I don’t like it at all. But tomorrow is another day and I’ll draw another portrait.
I drew Anna in my Moleskine watercolour sketchbook with a Unipin fineliner, painted her with Zecchi Toscana watercolours and finished the portrait with Prismacolor coloured pencils.
naaaaw… the hair is all good. She’s beautiful no matter what her hair looks like. I like it.

Oh thank you! I’m not sure I’ll ever like it but it’s nice to know someone else does.

why don’t you like it? The blue in it is lovely. That’s a crappy word choice… I know. But I love the “scribble” in her hair. I want you to relax about your standards. Even tho, yes, you do draw and paint better than this technically. More important is what comes across tho… for me. You made her beautiful. know matter what.

Thanks again. I suppose it didn’t turn out the way I hoped, I imagined a rather different result – but that’s drawing and painting for you. But I love it when people like you make me reassess my work and look at it differently – so I’m very grateful. Definitely seeing it a little differently now.

You should feel good about it because of YOU. I know us artists need an audience. It’s part of what we are about. And that’s not vanity. It’s the human connection. It’s what we witness. I love how you see people… yes I like to see how you portray women… how they are beautiful but not objects of beauty. You paint what’s good.

I think I just sounded rather pompous. I am sorry… I just really love your art. Ignore me and please make art.

No you didn’t, not at all. I really appreciate you taking the time to look at my posts and to comment.

That’s nice of you to say. But I do get kinda pompous, so please put me in my place when I do that to you. Ok? If I ever do? Don’t let me. I like your art. You are better than me. I refuse to be jealous tho! Just inspired. 🙂
