Elena

I haven’t used my Bardot Brushes for a while. I’ve become slightly obsessed with the Procreate wet acrylic brush and have used that for almost all my digital drawing recently but I decided to go back to my Bardot pencil box brushes for this portrait, and it was such a good decision – the cross hatch brush was perfect for those dandelions.

Donkey

I’ve never drawn a donkey before but I did choose a very pretty one for my first donkey portrait. This was drawn from a photo shared on Sktchy by Linda. Isn’t she a beautiful creature?

Jessica

This is a portrait of Jessica, my contribution to this week’s Sktchy Block Portrait Party. I drew it on my iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil using the Procreate app.

Selfie

I don’t like selfies. I rarely take or share photos of myself and I don’t much like drawing or painting myself either. But this week’s Old School Sktchy theme is “Self-Portrait” so I’ve drawn my first one in around a year. This one is very realistic, maybe next time I’ll exaggerate and play around a little more.

Maria

I drew Sktchy muse Maria with ballpoint pens a little while ago. I was so unhappy with the portrait I produced that I promised to draw her again soon and today I’m keeping that promise. I’m much happier with this portrait so I’m glad I had another go at drawing her.

Jalynn

I thought I’d try something completely different for this portrait, which is my entry for this week’s Old School Sktchy weekly art extravaganza challenge on the theme “fairytale”.

I drew the portrait on my iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil using the Procreate app.

Andrea

This was so much fun to draw. I used to hate drawing hair, I was always overwhelmed by it, and curly hair still sometimes terrifies me but Andrea’s hair was fabulous to draw.

Vez

This portrait of Vez was a fun draw but the most remarkable thing about it for me is that I’ve somehow rejuvenated Vez, by around 10-20 years! If anything I usually make my subjects look a little older than their actual age and this is certainly the first time I’ve made someone look so much younger! I wish I knew how I’d done it because I suspect this would be guaranteed to keep the commissions flooding in.

I drew Vez on my iPad Pro with a 2nd Generation Apple Pencil using the Procreate app.

Abra

I took a Skillshare class last week on Metallic textures in Procreate with my favourite Skillshare teacher, Liz Kohler-Brown, and I managed to use the technique I learned on that class to draw the gold earrings and necklace in this portrait. I’m very proud of myself because this is quite a stretch from what we were doing in the class! And this is the beautiful Abra, who offered the perfect for experimenting with both this technique and more of Procreate’s great new updates brushes. I used the wet acrylic on her face and then several different drawing brushes on her hair and lips.

I drew Abra on my iPad Pro using a 2nd gen Apple Pencil and the Procreate app.
