This is David from Sktchy – or “Museum” as the app has rebranded itself today in honour of its muses. It will take a while to get used to the new name but I like that the folks at Sktchy are putting the focus on the muses.
I drew David on my iPad Pro using the Procreate app.
This is Luis from Sktchy drawn with Bic 4 colour ballpoint pens. I made a mess of his hair – a series of poor decisions about how I was going to tackle it… But I like how a lot of the face shading worked out. I’m getting better at representing the different planes of the face with just vertical lines and it worked well with this expression.
This is Tyan from Sktchy. I loved drawing her portrait. It was one of those drawing sessions where I got kind of lost in the process- those really are the best kind of drawing days! I lose track of time and almost of what I’m doing and just lose myself in line and colour and texture, and somehow the portrait emerges.
I used Copic markers and Prismacolor coloured pencils in my Midori cotton sketchbook.

This is Irina from Sktchy. I love sketching with rainbow pencils in my sketchbook so I had a go at making a rainbow pencil brush for Procreate loosely based on my beloved Blackwing Pencil brush. Once id made the brush I tried it out on this portrait. I had to play around and modify it a little bit to get the sensitivity and colour change right but I’m pretty happy with it now.

I totally lost the likeness in this portrait of Sveta. I’m also guessing at her name – this is a shortened version of her username on Sktchy, Her actual name is in Cyrillic characters! It looks beautiful but I can’t hope to reproduce it correctly here.
