Screen Queens

I’ve made a little flip through of my Screen Queens sketchbook before I send it off to the Brooklyn Art Library and I thought some of you might like to see it. If you want a look you can see it on YouTube here.

Brady

I forgot to post this yesterday amidst all the tennis and football fever in the UK. Both Wimbledon and the Euros are now over (boohoo) so my work frenzy will no longer be complicated by a sport frenzy (at least until the Olympics begin). Which means I might manage some more drawing. Anyway, this is Brady from Sktchy drawn with Copic markers and Prismacolor coloured pencils.

Holly Golightly

I’ve almost finished my Screen Queens themed sketchbook for The Sketchbook Project 2021 and of course I had to include the queen of all screen queens Miss Holly Golightly. I did dither a little bit and briefly consider including an alternative Audrey Hepburn character. I always knew I was going to include Audrey Hepburn but wasn’t 100% sure which character t draw, but the more I thought about it the more I knew it had to be Holly Golightly because she’s just so iconic. And she was a lot of fun to draw.

Lee Lottie

Playing with my ballpoint pens again for this portrait of Lee Lottie from Sktchy. I loved the graffiti on the wall behind her in the inspiration photo for this portrait and so I wanted to make that a part of my drawing too.

Kristina’s dog

I haven’t drawn a dog for a while and this one is very handsome. Not sure of the breed, a bull terrier maybe? Anyway Kristina posted the photo on Sktchy and I couldn’t resist drawing it with my Bics.

Kim

I love drawing faces with shaved heads or very short hair so I can focus on the facial features and skintones without the distraction of hair. So I enjoyed sitting in my comfort zone and drawing Kim’s beautiful face so much today!

Nact

Keeping it simple today with a portrait in Procreate of Nact from Sktchy.

Say

Back to my 4 colour Bics for this portrait of Say from Sktchy today.

Trinity

I’m close to completing my “Screen Queens” sketchbook for The Sketchbook Project 2021 now. Today I drew Trinity from The Matrix, one of the most kick-ass screen icons from one of my all time favourite movies. I’ve seen Carrie-Anne Moss in many wonderful roles since but to me she will always be Trinity first and foremost.

Goldipants

This is Goldipants from Sktchy and she has such a fabulous face to draw. Sometimes I make the wrong choice of medium for a portrait but this time I think I made the perfect choice – I love how this portrait turned out with ballpoint pens. I don’t think I could have done a better job with any other medium.
