This is my second portrait of Leeza from an image of two photos collaged together. In my last post I shared the first one, drawn with Copic markers and coloured pencils. This one was drawn digitally with marker and coloured pencil brushes, using the same technique but working on my iPad Pro. I used True Grit Texture Supply’s KolorMarc and Chromographbrushes.
I’ve been working on a (non-portrait) commission for the past week which has meant that I haven’t had time for any other drawing. I haven’t drawn a face for around 10 days which is the longest I’ve gone in about 5 years without drawing one. So it was a huge relief to finally get around to drawing this portrait (well, half a face anyway) of Leeza from the Museum by Sktchy app.
I bought some fabulous new brushes for Procreate by the TrueGrit Texture Supply – the KolorMarc pack. They are marker brushes and I used them for this portrait of Bianca from the Museum by Sktchy app.
I’ve used a whole of range of different brushes in Procreate to try to create the effect of Copic markers but none have worked like these. The richness of colour and texture is just fabulous. And they really do go down like Copics. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, TrueGrit make the best Procreate brushes on the market.
Sometimes simplest is best. I loved the angle of the inspiration image for this portrait of Katoka from the Museum by Sktchy app but I kept my drawing and painting as simple as possible because i was concerned that if I made the portrait at all complicated it might be difficult to read. i think it works well as it is.

I had my Covid booster on Sunday and I’ve had my usual post-vaccination sickness ever since so I haven’t been well enough to manage both work and drawing until today, when I did just get in this quick sketch of Vic.

I was working on this portrait of Eden from the Museum by Sktchy app during last week’s Sketchbook Skool Drawathon but I’ve only just got around to finishing it. I drew it on my iPad Pro using the Procreate app and the very fabulous True Grit Texture Supply’s Chromagraph brushes.
