Scott

This is Scott from the Museum by Sktchy app, drawn in around 45 minutes in my Drawing Faces class yesterday. It’s the first time I’ve ever managed to complete a portrait during class!

Apo

I’ve been hatching this portrait of Apo slowly while dealing with a migraine. I have chronic migraine and have headaches which last for several days, and hatching with a ballpoint is the only drawing that is manageable. So glad that this is still possible though.

I recommend ballpoint pen drawing to anyone who wants something meditative and creative to do – once you’ve drawn the outline all you need to do is hatch!

Brittany

I had a lot of fun adding the reflected greens and yellows to this portrait of Brittany. I experimented with adding Irotijen coloured pencils over the Bic hatching to soften it a little and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Troix

I drew this portrait on my iPad Pro using the Procreate app and brushes that I’ve had in my Procreate brush library for a while but have never used. It was fun to experiment with new brushes and see what I could do with them.

Taran

This is Taran from the Museum by Sktchy app, painted with watercolour and finished off with coloured pencils. I really enjoyed drawing and painting that fabric but I’ve had enough of trying to work with the paper in this new Moleskine watercolour sketchbook.

I’ve been very happy with them in the past but the paper in this one is different. The paint is drying differently, it’s not layering well, and it’s not responding well to multiple layers as it has in the past. So I’m going to abandon it (something I almost never do) and move on to a new sketchbook.

Zoe

I bought some new Japanese coloured pencils last week and tried them out today with this portrait of Zoe from the Museum by Sktchy app. They are Irojiten pencils made by Tombow and they’re beautiful to use – so creamy and very blendable. It was very easy to build up beautiful layers of colour with them in this portrait.

Eden

I lost the likeness with this portrait of Eden from Sktchy but i loved drawing it and that’s what matters.

Sasha

Sometimes I bite off more than I can chew, especially when it comes to what I can do in 45 minutes in class. That was certainly the case with this portrait of Sasha from Sktchy. I really didn’t have enough time to blend the greys in the shadow thoroughly. But I’m surprised at what I did manage in under an hour.

Vsevolod

Taking a few days off work this week to recharge my batteries which , of course, means drawing more. This is Vsevolod from the Museum by Sktchy app drawn on my iPad Pro.

Marcus

This is Marcus from the Museum by Sktchy app drawn with Bic 4 colour ballpoint pens.
